This painting began looking very different from how it does now. This is the result of not being satisfied with okay. It is often tempting to stop working on a piece when it looks "ok", while not being completely happy with it. Growth is only possible by taking chances and working through obstacles. This piece went from being a not-so-interesting collection of abstract forms, to being a dark, richly layered evocation of mystery.
